Good Morning Coach Fischer,

Mr. Vacanti shared the great news that your Lancer Field Hockey team has been selected to receive the Sportsmanship Award by the Greater Rochetser Field Hockey Umpire’s Board after Wednesday’s sectional game, congratulations!  Since you have been the coach of this team you have always had high standards for your athletes which best represents who we want to be as a district.  Thank you for your consistency and care for your players and for maintaining those high standards for players on and off the field.  Good luck Wednesday and all my best!

About The Section V FH Sportsmanship Award

Since 2008 the Greater Rochester Field Hockey Umpires Board has been promoting good sportsmanship, by all participants, at every Section V field hockey game. The Ellen Hawver Sportsmanship Award was created to honor the memory of Ellen Hawver who started field hockey in the area and led the battle to establish interscholastic sports and sectional competition for girls in Section 5. The first girl’s sport to have a sectional tournament in Section 5 was Field Hockey in 1972! Ellen loved field hockey and had an infectious spirit that inspired her teammates, players and fellow umpires during every stage of her athletic career. She had high standards and embraced a “never-sacrifice-sportsmanship” for a “win-at-all-cost” attitude.
