Coach Adams began her career in East Irondequoit in 1968. She was a popular physical education teacher at all levels from elementary through high school.

Coach Adams worked the majority of her career at Eastridge where she also coached a variety of sports including basketball, softball and lacrosse — but field hockey is the sport for which she is best known.

Coach Adams established the field hockey program at Eastridge in 1969. She continued coaching the varsity program through 2008, and she coached modified field hockey through 2024. As Varsity Field Hockey Coach for 40+ years, Coach Adams and her teams earned 10 League Championships, 9 Section V Championships and 5 Regional Championships. During those years, she was also selected to coach Empire State Games' Western NY Scholastic teams multiple times, and was a coach at many field hockey camps and clinics.

Coach Adams has been recognized with several honors over the years for her distinguished coaching career, including induction into the SUNY Brockport Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993 and being a Rochester Red Wings Coaching Walk of Fame inductee in 2017

The Coach Linda Adams Field Hockey IMPACT Award & Scholarship (established in 2026) goes to a senior field hockey player who has shown significant impact during the fall season in areas that include game play, sportsmanship, leadership, academics and community service. .
