Proposed Practice Plan Today (Mon 9/29)
3:30-3:55 Varsity offense corner practice
—
4-4:10 Dynamic warmup
—
4:15-4:30 Cutting in front of tires. Going strong to goal. This time move hitter closer and have them hit harder, and also add pressure by adding a defender in the circle
IHS out-cut us like crazy in the last game. We are going to change that tomorrow. We need mindset that we will out-cut IHS 100% of the game. Disrupting the path of the ball disrupts their play. When you get the touch, you MUST finish the play. No letdown… just like you did at Brighton. The key to holding IHS back tomorrow will be the out-cutting IHS players… getting first touch on ball… going strong to goal.
—
4:30-4:45 (10min) Right side ball coming from 30 yard line to opposite goal post. Have defender marking line of ball to circle (5min) move to left side
We still need to work on right mid sending ball to opposite goal post from 30 yard line and have TOD and forwards practicing aligning themselves with path of ball to goal and adding a stick.
—
4:45-5 First touch toward goal — 2 forwards and 2 defenders …. Possibly add trailing forward
We still need to work on first touch towards goal drill with defenders catching up to forwards. We can start with 2 forwards and 2 defenders, and then add a third forward trailing the action toward goal and a third defender already in circle to see play develop and practice making good decisions.
—
5-5:15 getting deeper than ball in defensive circle… feet out of bounds… to be able to stop a hard low cross from the right …. also to stop diagonal “checkmark” pass from endline. 2 defenders start on 5yd line or 10 yd line with back to endline… both have to run deeper than ball and get feet around (while right wing is carrying ball)…. Crossing ball can be flat or checkmark
I think this still is one of our weaknesses. We’ve been scored on from incoming low cross several times this season
—
5:15-5:30 sideline drill with defenders — game speed — BOTH SIDES of field
—
5:30-5:45 Channeling review… BOTH sidelines… also as opponent crosses the field…slow down opponent… importance of spotting opportunities to double EVERYWHERE on the field.
We need be focused on slowing down IHS… force bad passes… disrupt the ball

5:45-6 Team Stretch
